Accommodation: General information
BEWARE OF SCAMS: Do not trust any solicitations to book your accommodation. SOC/LOC members would not request money from you to ‘finalize a reservation’, nor would we book your hotel for you through an agent. Please ask SOC chair(s) if you have concerns about a message you received about bookings.
Places close to Swinburne University and along the Lilydale/Belgrave train line are recommended, as the Glenferrie train station is on campus. The Glenferrie Hotel, Amora Hotel Riverwalk, Element Melbourne Richmond and Pullman Melbourne On The Park fulfill this requirement, though they are not the only possible choices.
There are other options if you would rather stay at Melbourne CBD/Downtown. Be advised that this could add between 20 to 40 minutes when commuting to Swinburne, depending on your location within the CBD.

Hotels with Special Conference Rates
- Amora Hotel Riverwalk:
For those needing to book their hotel for the Transients Down Under conference, you may find that some of the days, in particular the Sunday leading up to the conference, are either sold out or going at a high rate due to the Australian Open tennis tournament. We have secured a room block at the Amora Hotel Riverwalk for the conference at a reduced rate ($240 AUD per night), which also includes breakfast. The rooms can be booked as early as Jan 26 and as late as Feb 06 check out. This (Swinburne) link has been specially set up for the conference participants. No need to enter any special code, etc. Just choose the number of people, click “Update Guests and Room” and choose your arrival and departure dates. You’ll see a selection of room types to choose from.
